Department of Education commends Cebu International School’s “Philippines Week”
Cebu International School holds a “Philippines Week”, for the first time.
Being the only International School in the Visayas, with a community of 22 different nationalities, Cebu International School is making available opportunities for its mostly foreign students to learn more about host country culture.
Through a memo from the Dep Ed, CIS’ Philippines Week is commended and supported by the department for “….providing a means for foreign and local students… to have an appreciation, understanding and knowledge of Philippine culture by means of hosting Philippines Week.”
“Philippines Week” includes a field trip component which exposes students to the different places around the country alongside various endeavors that are being undertaken to help community and country. Planned trips include visits to San Remigio in Cebu, Danjugan in Negros, Pangasinan Province, Subic and Laguna.
Aside from this a Philippine Culture showcase that will feature the richness of Philippine Culture and History forms part of the activities lined up.
Overall the school hopes to instill a deeper understanding and appreciation of the its host country, the Philippines, to its international community more importantly the CIS student body.
