CIS is an IB PYP candidate school
THE IB PYP ARRIVES AT CEBU INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Cebu International School has been an International Baccalaureate (IB) World school since 2000 when it was authorized to offer the IB Diploma to Grades 11-12. The IB Diploma is recognized worldwide as the most academically rigorous High School Diploma. Over the past two years, the school has done a lot of preparation and work towards a recognized curriculum framework for their Elementary School, such as the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
On Tuesday 31st May, Cebu International School was informed that they had officially “become a candidate school* for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy — a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Cebu International School believes is important for our students.
The PYP will be implemented in the Elementary School, from Pre-School 3 to Grade 5. We are very proud of the fact that we are in an elite group of schools in the Philippines that will have the IB PYP in their Elementary schools, in fact one of only three schools and the only school outside Manila.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization (IBO) can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
